Love Letter

Dear Baby A,

We have almost made it out of the second trimester and I am counting on you to make sure that nobody gets out early. Since you are down there by the exit you need to set a good example, okay?
Your daddy likes to joke that as our eldest child that you will never get to hear the time honored speech that parents prepare for their first child telling them how much they are loved and that as a result there is going to be a little brother or sister. Instead, you are going to come into the world and spend twenty minutes at the most being an only child. So, I apologize now if the speech is not up to par.
Even though your sibling will be born on the same day, you will always be my first baby. You were the answer to the prayer that has been in my heart for so long that I cannot even remember when I started praying for it. You were the baby that your dad and I dreamed of that first night he knew that I was pregnant. The very first Cleveland Browns onesie will always be yours.
Your life brought together two people who traveled a long road to unity and it strengthened that union in a way that has only been surpassed by the work of God. Your dad an I both hope that we can give you everything that you deserve. I think we will achieve that goal.
You are a lucky little baby because you have a wonderful dad. He is a wonderful man and he had a great dad himself, who taught him how to let you know how much he loves you. You have already given your dad a gift, the chance to tell his own father that you were going to be born. I am sure that when your dad meets you for the first time that he will remember that day and love you even more because he knows exactly how important it is to have a father. I promise that yours is amazing.
We are both so excited to hold you and see your face, but please stay in there for 12 more weeks, I'll keep sending lemonade and cupcakes.

Love,
Mommy
