Never Date a Guy in a Band

... but you should totally marry one.

When I met my husband back in 1997 he played the guitar with a college roommate from time-to-time. They had written a couple of tunes, played at parties, nothing formal. Not too long after we started dating in 2000 they started recording an album and things got more serious.

I started law school in 2002 and at the same time my husband decided to move to NYC, where his former roommate had already relocated to. He wanted to try seeing if the band would be successful or at the very least play in the NYC music scene. Before he actually moved, I ended the relationship. He was going to be too far away, in my opinion, to make a serious relationship work and I was not interested in the role of groupie girlfriend.

We reunited at a mutual friends wedding a couple of years later and worked things out. The band recorded a second album, which was wildly successful, and I learned to live with the collection of strange girl's underpants thrown at my husband during shows.

Now, he gives guitar lessons to his biggest fan, Owen.
