Many many years ago, before my abdomen was a topographical map, I bought a pair of very expensive cowboy boots. At the time I was a college student, and a waitress, and worked on the dance floor of a line-dancing establishment. To make sure that people were at least turning and heading in the right direction during line dances most establishments hired girls to dance at each corner of the floor. The prerequisite for this job was having a sweet pair of cowboy boots and some tight shorts.

Those tight shorts? Well they were retired a long long time ago.
But the boots that I love so much survived until yesterday when the sole came off. I took them to a shoe repair place and learned that the soles are hand stitched onto cowboy boots and that it is almost $70 to replace the soles. Sadly, they left me yesterday after 17 long years. I have to give those cows credit. Their asses have held up way better than mine.
I don't know if I could part with my favorite boots from high school. I have had the soles replaced once and they need it again. Once the leather is broke in - they are like your personal boots for life.
