17 Months

Maeve really loves Maya. She gets so excited to see her each morning and she has patiently learned how to pat Maya in all of her sweet spots. Maya has a very itchy spot where her ear meets her head and it appears that Maeve has the perfect touch. Both of the boys are kind with my dog, but Maeve loves her with the complete abandon that I remember feeling toward my grandparents' dog, Sailor, and then my childhood dog, Sultan. My kids don't look like me, but seeing this totally makes up for it and more.

40 Months

Mike took this picture to show their fear when we threatened to leave them when we asked them to get up and come to the car. That is Owen waving "goodbye."

$65 a Week for a Private Speech Pathologist Will Buy You the Following ...

Naptime

Owen: the eensey-weensy spider climbed up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider…

Hamilton: Bam your spider is dead, Owen.

Owen: ...out. Out came the sun and...

Hamilton: He is dead. Stop singing about him. Stop talking to me. Be quiet.

Owen: ... Dried up all the rain and the eensy-weensy spider climbed up the spout again.

Hamilton: you are not listening, start listening to me.

Owen: God makes my spider I can see him when I want to. I asked Pastor Grey where my spider is.

Well that settles things.

Regifting

A friend of mine gave this giraffe to the boys, who loved it, and then passed it onto Maeve. Maeve screamed like she was being set on fire each time that we tried to put her in a pac n play. Being put down would wake her instantly from a dead sleep. This giraffe was the only thing that would console her. In the past month or so, the giraffe has gained a new fan. I am glad for anything that gives her comfort.

They are hunkering down for the massive storm that is headed our way. Mike is out of town. I am praying that he retruns, or if he cannot, that he safely stays where he is.

Our home security system is doing just fine.

39 Months

Gotta stop posting from the ER. Well, this is just urgent care. They made us wait in the room for 45 minutes. During that time period the boys disassembled the roll of paper they use to recover the bed between patients. They also shredded more paper than the Nixon administration in the Summer of 74. Diagnosis: massive waste of time.

Getting in the Picture

A very wise woman blogged earlier this week about mom's staying out of the picture.

I am so guilty of this. So on Saturdays I am going to give "getting in the picture a shot," which obviously means Fat A@@ Fridays cannot be far behind.

Some People Pretend the Puppy Went to Live at a Farm

I found this caterpillar massacring my tomato plants. So I cut off the branch and did some research to see what the white things are. The white things are wasp larvae, which are living off the caterpillar and slowly killing it. !!Gross!!

I don't want this shit at my house, so I put it in a Tupperware and punched some holes in it. Then I took it to the kids' school to show them. They loved it, freaking out with happiness that mom found the hungry caterpillar.

I explained that he needed a home. So we took him and left him in the bushes of our local Dunkin' Donuts. They boys think that he eats donuts every day for breakfast and wave happily as we drive past.

I am so winning parent of the year.

ROAR

Took the boys to McDonald's today for lunch. Owen was flying around his Spiderman toy narrating: "Spiderman is flying fast, flying high, a great flier..." A sevenish-year-old boy walked up and told him that he was stupid because Spiderman cannot fly and only stupid people think Spiderman flies. I advised the kid that Santa Claus sets one of your Christmas presents on fire every single time you call someone stupid. He replied nu-uh. So I told him that he should ask his mother if it was true. The remainder of the time we were in McDonald's his mother glared at me. But her kid didn't get up again.

37 Months

I just went to the boys' room to wake them up from their nap. I almost had a heart attack when I realized that Owen was not in his bed. I looked on the floor, in the closet, and checked the bathroom before really focusing on Hamilton's bed. Where I found this. They have never done this before.

More 37 Months

Hmmmm. No need to write his name on him, Owen, we can tell you two apart by gut size.
